An Important Update From The Baby Goat

As you may already know through direct sources or indirect ‘whispers’, we as a business have made the difficult but proactive decision to cease our operations at our Grindelhof & St Pauli locations: The Baby Goat House & The Baby Goat Barn.
We have enjoyed over 6 and 4 years in each of those spaces respectively, creating and collecting countless memories and connections with you, our customers. Whilst we are extremely proud of what we have created in those locations, we have always objectively reviewed our long-term positioning as a business, and at this juncture we have chosen to close these pubs, in order to focus, in the short term, on our project in The Westfield Hamburg and plan strategically for our future.
We will be candid in saying that challenging market conditions have played a part in that decision - an all-too-common situation in the hospitality industry at the moment. But primarily, we believe running any location should be a long-term all-in commitment, matched with a long-term opportunity.
That said, our confidence in the power of beer and the beer community remains, and we will continue to pursue our mission of bringing people together through beer in our consolidated model.
Both The House and The Barn will remain open as usual until the end of March, and after an period of intense internal focus, especially on the next steps for our valued staff, we are happy to now be able to share this news with you all so that there is transparency, and so that we can all look forward to enjoying the last 4 weeks in those locations together.
Which we truly do.
So, that’s the sad bit, and now on to the happier news...
In the coming days we’ll be posting our schedule of great events and get-togethers for both locations in March, where we intend to raise multiple glasses with all of you GOATs as a toast to all the good times had.
And, most importantly, our operations continue as usual in The Westfield, where we will also be gladly continuing to host our exisiting communities and recurring events in the future.
You’ll find more information and some FAQs below the article here.
For now, enjoy the weekend, and we look forward to seeing you for a beer or two soon.
Love,
The Baby Goat Team
FAQs:
When are the locations closing?
Both the House and Barn will cease Day-to-day operations on 31.03.2026.
In The Barn, we will no longer be present in the space from 01.04 as a Nachfolger is already agreed.
In The House, it is likely that we remain on site with a period, but no longer open for custom, although that can also change depending on the conditions to be agreed with a Nachfolger.
Why, Why, Why?
That's a good and fair question, and although the news is abrupt for many, this is the result of a much longer period of internal analysis, review, discussion, & planning.
We've done our best to encapsulate that in the summary above, but should anyone have any pressing questions or wish to speak to myself or Thomas personally then you're welcome to reach out to us at info@thebabygoat.de
We're happy to give as much context as we can to the situation.
What about the International Social / Pub Quiz etc.?
We are extremely proud of the communities that we have built, and that includes the International Social, our Open Mic, 'Afterwork', Oub Quiz, and indeed many more.
For now, we can say that our intention is for all events to transfer to our location in The Westfield. We expect some of those to be more natural / smooth than others, but we will absolutely keep you updated on how those plans look from April onwards, and likewise we will communicate those to you at the events that will still take place through March.
What about The Tribe and our benefits?
The Tribe remains our closest community of followers with whom we have shared some amazing experiences.
Your Tribe benefits are naturally maintained, and indeed at the end of March we will be conducting a full review of our automated systems to ensure that all members have their digital cards and are able to continue to claim their benefits - as we have heard from a number of members that there have been some issues.
I’ve got a booking or an event planned with you…what happens now?
Well, those are two distinct groups: Those with bigger bookings (15 Person +) or events will either have already received personal contact from our Event Manager Dries Bloemers, and if you haven't yet, then he will absolutely be in touch with you in the coming days. We have ensured that either you will be able to fulfil the event or booking at our Westfield location if you wish.
What’s happening with your beers?
We will continue to tap our own beers in The Westfield, as well as proudly present beers from Barbarossa.I.Am, our long-term partners.
We will, logically, be reducing our brewing capacity, but we will continue to champion great beer, and our intention is that even if there will be less of our own beer for now, we will present local beers in our location
What things will you be doing in March?
Here we suggest you stay tuned to our Social Media channels and also our Pub Schedule page.
We're finalising a few details and performers, but are excited to share that all with you.

We're very happy to answer them.
